GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A man recently attempted to rob a bank in the Greenwich Village by pretending to have a gun and passing a note demanding cash, a spokesperson from the New York Police Department said. The attempted heist took place Thursday around 3:15 p.m. inside a Weels Fargo location at 374 Avenue of the Americas, police said. The man walked into the Lower Manhattan bank, approached a 21-year-old bank teller, made hand motions indicating that he had a gun, and passed a note to the teller asking for money, police said. The robber didn't have much luck, though, as the teller didn't remove any money from the bank and the man ended up running away in an unknown direction. Police released a photo Thursday of the person wanted in connection to the attempted bank robbery.
