L2 Aquariums is accepting applications for the positions of Part-time biologist/aquarist. We are seeking a motivated individual who is a self-starter and enjoys working alone. Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of care for one freshwater aquarium, it’s associated life support systems and quarantine tank. Preferred candidates will possess the following: Degree in Biology, Marine Biology, Aquaculture or related field Valid open water SCUBA/First Aid certifications Experience and good working knowledge of water quality (chemistry) Experience and good hands on working knowledge of life support systems to include sand filters, water pumps, and UV filters. Knowledge of the taxonomy of freshwater fishes. Experience with quarantine and holding protocols for aquatic animals. Experience with necropsy procedures and techniques. Excellent observational, computer and written skills. Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs. and able to work in Aquarium back areas which requires climbing and crawling under LSS plumbing and tanks.
