Hourly Maintenance Worker – Landfill Landfill/Resource Management Division Public Works Department Job posted until filled Visit www.icgov.org/jobs to apply online Wage: $15.00 per hour Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00am – 4:30pm Start & end dates are negotiable within March – August season Seasonal full-time positions are limited to a 5-month duration Job summary: Under general supervision, assists with dumping refuse roll-offs, mows grass, performs routine janitorial work, picks up loose papers and debris at the City's Landfill. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other related work as required. Minimum qualifications: Applicant must be well suited to outdoor work and have ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks under adverse weather conditions. Previous work experience in grounds maintenance and equipment operation, which includes operating dump trucks, tractors and pickup trucks preferred. Must be able to communicate clearly and positively with customers. Applicant must be self-motivated and have the ability to work under minimal supervision. Must have ability to work well with others. Applicant must have ability to understand and follow written instructions; must have the ability to work around dirty materials. Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Hourly Maintenance Worker – Refuse Resource Management Division Public Works Department Job posted until filled Visit www.icgov.org/jobs to apply online Wage: $15.00 per hour Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm Start & end dates are negotiable within March – August season Seasonal full-time positions are limited to a 5-month duration Job summary: Under immediate direction, collects household waste and/or yard waste from curbside to assist with increased seasonal demand. Transports collected garbage and/or yard waste to Landfill and dumps load. Cleans and maintains equipment. Drives City trucks on daily assignments. Delivers refuse, recycling and yard waste carts to customers. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Six months of experience in general labor required. Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. This position is subject to federal drug testing requirements including screening through the FMCSA Clearinghouse. A pre-employment drug screen is required.
