This workshop will begin with the invitation to write your own personal story based in history or fantasy and paint & print with indigo dye This workshop will begin with the invitation to write your own personal story based in your history, fantasy or fiction. There will be writing prompts given if needed. We will then become artist scribes and design a vocabulary of symbols to print our story using indigo dye as paint with painting and printing methods. We will paint and print on your story on your own personal scroll of cloth. Methods of painting with indigo dye as paint and printing using indigo paste with potato prints and linoleum block prints will be taught. Resits dye techniques will be taught and natural soy milk will be used to develop different indigo/blue values. All materials provided but please bring a journal or sketchbook to write your story and draft ideas. Sarah offers a safe container to express these fears and overcome them, to connect you to your truest self. Sarah is a graduate of MICA with a BFA in General Fine Arts and an MA in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore. As an artist she has shown nationally in both solo and group shows and worked in collectives both in dance and art practice. She has been practicing embroidery as her main form for artistic expression for the past 10 years, sometimes she paints. She has studied coaching since 2017 doesn't plan on stoping anytime soon.
