Description

With Attorney General Maura Healey finally confirming her long-rumored gubernatorial run Thursday, all eyes turn to the dominos ready to fall. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan is still weighing a bid for attorney general, her campaign spokesperson told Politico. Ryan, a Democrat, has been Middlesex DA since 2013, when she appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick in 2013. She won her first election the following year. Running would open a fourth district attorney seat this election, this one in the biggest county in New England. Ryan lives in Belmont. Healey is jumping into the race for governor as the immediate heavy favorite. Other major candidates include State Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz and Harvard professor Danielle Allen, both Democrats, and Republican former State Rep. Geoff Diehl.
