Op-Ed: High-Tor Animal Shelter Update

From Rockland County Executive Ed Day At my request, members of the Hi Tor Animal Shelter Board of Directors including Board President Debbie DiBernardo presented an update to my Administration on their plans to continue the safe operation of the shelter. This presentation included up-to-date financial and operational information along with information about the continuing professional development of Hi Tor's management staff. The Board affirmed their focus on the continuing care of the animals and reassured my Administration of the short- and long-term stability of their organization. The Rockland County Department of Health continues to visit the shelter twice a day to ensure the health and safety of the animals, and the County remains committed to building a new state-of-the-art shelter facility. I continue to ask those who regularly volunteer with or support Hi Tor to stay committed. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated and help to ensure the health and safety of all the animals currently housed there.
