FRAMINGHAM, MA — State Rep. Maria Robinson will head to Washington in February for a hearing over her appointment to a job at the U.S. Department of Energy. In September, President Joe Biden nominated Robinson to become an assistant secretary in the the Office of Electricity at the U.S. Department of Energy. The role requires a confirmation in the U.S. Senate. In a tweet on Wednesday, Robinson said she's scheduled to appear before U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin's (D-West Virginia) Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Feb. 3. The hearing will be broadcast live online and will be available to watch after. Robinson's likely appointment to the federal job means she will step down from her state House seat. Following redistricting, Robinson's 6th Middlesex District now covers all of Framingham below Route 9, plus an approximate area between the Natick Mall and the Mass Pike between the Natick town line and Route 126. The seat will be up for election in November.
