NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools were closed Thursday due to expected snow and freezing rain in the morning among other factors, district officials said. "Due to the timing of this morning's weather system and potential for icy conditions, Norwalk Public Schools and offices will be closed today," district officials announced Thursday on Facebook. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Rain is expected to turn to snow starting after 7 a.m. Up to 2 inches of snow is expected. "While the storm is not expected to bring a lot of snow, this weather system is complicated," district officials said. The district also consulted with the city's Department of Public Works on road conditions while NPS facilities crew assessed the schools. "Based on this input, NPS will be closed [Thursday] to make sure students, families and staff stay safe," district officials said.
