GERMANTOWN, MD — A fire on the second floor of a Germantown townhouse Wednesday night sent the occupant to the hospital for smoke inhalation and left them without a place to stay, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said on Twitter. A dog survived the fire, but several cats were found dead, said Piringer. The estimated damage was about $300,000. Crews think the cause was likely burning incense and nearby combustibles. The townhouse is on the 12100 block of Flag Harbor Drive.
