Press release from Dell Children's: Jan. 20, 2022 Dell Children's announced the opening of a new Maternal Care Center which allows for the highest level of specialized care before, during and after delivery at Dell Children's. Mothers diagnosed with complex and rare fetal conditions who are patients of the Comprehensive Fetal Care Center at Dell Children's will now be able receive their obstetrical care at the Maternal Care Center on site. The Maternal Care Center is a clinical collaboration between Dell Children's and UT Health Austin, the clinical practice of the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. The Maternal Care Center is located at Dell Children's Speciality Pavilion and is part of the Comprehensive Fetal Care Center. "The close proximity of these two centers allows for seamless communication between fetal medicine specialists and obstetricians. Highly experienced obstetricians work collaboratively with the entire fetal care team to provide comprehensive care to both mother and baby," said Dr. Michael Nix, Maternal Medical Director at Dell Children's Specialized Delivery Unit. "Our team provides unparalleled care for mothers with a fragile baby at one central location, increasing the chances of survival and the quality of life for newborns and mothers," said Dr. John Harkins, obstetrician and gynecologist at Dell Children's Maternal Care Center. The Comprehensive Fetal Care Center is the first and only comprehensive program in Central Texas that provides care for babies with congenital conditions. Dell Children's has a Specialized Delivery Unit (SDU), an 11-bed labor and delivery unit that provides comprehensive care to mothers and their high-risk babies at the time of delivery. Dr. Kenneth Moise, Jr. and Dr. Michael Bebbington are co-directors of the Comprehensive Fetal Care Center, providing comprehensive, family-centered care to ensure patients and their families receive the highest level of specialized care before, during and after delivery.
