TREE CLIMBER JOB DESCRIPTION WHAT A DAY LOOKS LIKE: The Tree Climber is a skilled position responsible for tree maintenance, pruning, removals, cable bracing on residential and commercial properties using ropes, harness, saddle, and/or bucket truck. Safely operate all equipment and perform the assigned job tasks while providing excellent service to our clients. • Daily inspection of all personal climbing and safety equipment including ropes, saddle, PPE • Perform pruning, cable bracing and tree removals in accordance with industry standards • Assistance with lowering limbs, chipping brush and complete clean-up • Operation and basic maintenance of chippers, chain saws, blowers, and various hand tools in accordance with company policy • Communication with clients and fellow crew members • Perform other related duties as assigned SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ability to perform strenuous manual work in all weather conditions • Knowledge and execution of proper pruning per ISA standards • Possess tree and plant identification skills • Demonstrated climbing ability without spurs; Possess knowledge of climbing knots • Practical knowledge of chainsaw and equipment operation • Experience with tree care safety standards • Ability to work in a team environment where communication skills are essential • Attention to detail is critical to maintain high quality of care QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledge/Experience in climbing and pruning techniques • ISA Tree Worker certification is highly valued but not required • Valid Driver’s license with clean DMV record • Ability to pass a standard drug test • Class B or Class A license highly valued STRUCTURE: Full Time, Non-Exempt Overtime is customary, but not guaranteed Must be available for occasional after-hours/weekend emergency work PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is subject to: Considerable physical demands that involve regularly pruning, removing, cabling and bracing, inspecting and planting trees. Frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move over fifty (50) pounds. Responsible for performing daily warm up exercises.
