TINLEY PARK, IL — South suburban Governors State University will host a diversity speaker at their Center of Performing Arts Thursday to kick off a series on diversity and inclusion. Damon Williams, a leading diversity strategist, will host the day-long event for faculty and staff, though all students are invited to attend as well. The speech is the first of a three-part Inclusive Excellence Residency tour where experts from across the country will discuss ways to advance diversity at the university. "It's an honor to bring the Inclusive Excellence tour to campus and have a chance to connect with students, faculty, employees, and leadership, particularly as we launch 2022, " Williams said in a news release. "Now is a time of hope, renewal, and accelerating change. I'm thankful to be a part of that journey at Governors State University." Willams works as the Chief Catalyst for the Center for Strategic Diversity Leadership and Social Innovation in Atlanta. According to university officials, Williams will offer the talk both in-person and virtually beginning at 8:30 a.m. All students, staff and faculty can register to attend here.
