OSWEGO, IL – Students who depend on school transportation from Community Unit School District 308 will have to make adjustments to their plans again on Friday, a day after district officials said a shortage of bus drivers and monitors forced them to take action. District officials announced on Wednesday that bus service for Oswego High School, Traughber Junior High and Southbury Elementary would be affected by the driver and monitor shortage on Thursday and Friday. The district said it planned to run normal bus routes on Thursday and Friday with the exception of: Oswego High School and Traughber Junior High School, where there would be no general education bus transportation. Students in special education who are provided specialized transportation will still be transported on their regular routes and times, the district said. Regular in-person learning will take place in all school buildings on both days. High school and junior high families have the option of either transporting their students to and from school or have their students participate via google classroom virtually, the district said. Officials said that teachers will put the Google Meet link into their Google classrooms so that students can join their class. At Southbury Elementary, district officials said there would be a 30-minute delay in morning bus pick-up, but that classes will start and end at regular times and classes will be held in-person. Specialized transportation routes for special education students will run on time. We do not anticipate delays at the end of the day. "We understand that this is difficult, and transportation may be a challenge for some families," the district said. "We welcome students to come in person to school whenever they can get here, if at all possible."
