OSWEGO, IL — A 32-year-old Aurora man faces aggravated battery charges along with resisting police officers after he was taken into custody following an early-morning domestic violence incident in Oswego on Wednesday, police said. Elbert Phillips faces the misdemeanor charges, along with criminal damage to property after he was arrested and transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained in the incident. He was later booked into the Kendall County Jail. Police said they were called to the 200 block of Springbrook Trail South at 1:20 a.m. Dispatchers told police that a domestic incident was in progress. While police were en route to the residence, a second 911 call was placed by a woman who said a man was trying to kill her, Oswego Police said in a news release. Oswego police said that officers could hear loud banging coming from inside the home and that both a man and a woman could be heard screaming. Officers forced their way into home and believed the female who was screaming was in danger of great bodily harm, police said . Officers continued to hear screaming and yelling coming from a locked bedroom and forced their way into the room, the release said Police said Phillips became aggressive and ignored officers' commands to stop while continuing to yell and fight with officers. Officers were able to place Phillips under arrest and he was taken into custody, police said. The female victim declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.
