NORTHFIELD, MN — Northfield joined 15 cities in Minnesota in declaring a climate emergency in hopes of urging legislators to take action, according to a report by The Minneapolis Star Tribune.

City leaders say the signs of climate change in Minnesota are impossible to ignore, citing December's tornadoes, the droughts this summer and wildfires that dirtied air across the state, the report said.
The 16 cities declaring a climate emergency are home to 1.4 million Minnesotans, the publication reported.
