CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A south suburban wood and metal manufacturer is expanding its operation in Chicago Heights with the addition of a 230,000-square-foot facility expected to be completed by 2023. Morgan Li purchased the 1001 Washington Street location last year for $3 million. Officials from the company told Patch the extra space will be used for production, assembly and storage. "As companies continue to face the burden of long, complex supply lines, we're ecstatic to open another centrally-located facility to better serve our clients and meet their evolving needs," said Jonathan Rosenband, president of Morgan Li, in a news release. The building was Morgan Li's third Chicago Heights property, which first came to the area in 1943. The company said the new addition will add up to 30 jobs by 2023 and possibly up to 40 by 2024 once upgrades are made. While the company has been on the property since 2015, the latest addition will allow the custom woodwork store to double their space. Currently, the Washington Street building is about a quarter-mile away from the company's headquarters at 383 East 16th Street. "Since my grandfather Maurice Rosenband founded Par Steel Products just down the street from this facility in 1943," said Andy Rosenband, founder and CEO of Morgan Li, "we've been a part of the Chicago Heights community and remain committed to growing the local economy."
