OCEANSIDE, NY — Despite the Biden administration recently announcing 400 million COVID-19 tests will get sent to homes, most Long Islanders think not enough is being done to get take-home kits. The poll conducted by Mount Sinai South Nassau found 80 percent of area residents want the government to make testing more accessible to the public. The "Truth in Medicine" poll also indicated 57 percent hold the federal government the most accountable for a lack of available testing. Only 15 percent blamed leaders at the state level. The majority of respondents (more than 60 percent) from New York City and Long Island also believe the pandemic will at least another year. It's the hospital's 12th survey and the first of 2022. It was conducted from Jan. 4-9 from landlines and cell phones with 600 residents.
