It brings our family great sadness to say we are looking for a home for my mother’s German shepherd. She is 5yrs old and very friendly with people. There are some good and some negative behaviors that need to be known for anyone considering adopting her. PROS: She is a happy, energetic, bouncy and playful and would love nothing more than to lay in your lap or play with her toys with you. She is loyal and wants nothing more than to be with her human all the time. Good with kids and adults alike. She is not fixed but is not able to have puppies either. CONS: 1) She is HIGHLY dog aggressive and not great with cats. She is not suitable for anyone with another dog or animals. No exceptions. Putting her in this position will result in injury to her, another dog/pet or her handlers. This includes walks in public or hikes, vet visits (will need muzzle) or groomers (not possible unless groomer comes to house). She will red zone at the sight of another dog. We cannot express this enough. Please do not even message me if you have other pets. She will need someone with experience with GSD. 2) She had a small hematoma in her ear and has caused that one ear to stay down. She always has one ear down and one ear up, which makes her cute in my opinion :) Setting aside her animal aggression, this dog has such a sweet disposition with people. She came from a bad situation and that’s likely the cause of her aggression towards other animals. A fenced in yard would be best for her so she can run and neither she or her new owner will have to worry about run ins with other dogs. We love this girl with every fiber in our souls, this was a hard decision for our family and both my mother and myself are very sad to see her go. If not for inevitable circumstances at my mothers house, she would never be leaving. If I did not have a dog of my own or she got along with other dogs, she would not be leaving. We planned on having her in our family for the rest of her life. She is a wonderful girl and deserves to live the rest of her life in a forever home that will love her like we do. Any potential home will have an in person home visit, adoption contract and a small adoption fee. Please do not message me if you cannot meet this criteria.
