Description
Dr. Natania A. Crane (PhD) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is conducting a research study on how people respond to recreational drugs. The goal of the study is to understand how people’s feelings and behavior may respond to different recreational drugs. Participants should be 18-25 years old. Participants will be asked to take part in a psychiatric interview, 2 sessions with electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to non-invasively measure brain function. Participants will be randomized to receive one of the following drug classes: 1) stimulant, 2) sedative, 3) cannabinoid, or 4) placebo. The total time that you will be involved in this study is 3 visits over approximately three weeks to two months. You are expected to be in the study for about 15-16 hours total.
