SBP is hiring an AmeriCorps member to serve as a Construction Coordinators to expand our disaster recovery services for the Lake Charles area. AmeriCorps Construction Coordinators play a vital role in supporting SBP’s home repair program ensuring the necessary logistics that support each construction project are completed on time and accurately. Completing these tasks on time ensures predictability for our clients many of whom have been displaced or living in unsafe conditions. As a Construction Coordinator, you will coordinate subcontractor schedules and monitor the progress of construction projects, ensuring proper permits are secured for each site. We provide on-the-job training! Great opportunity for recent graduates, gap year seekers, individuals looking to change careers, or retirees looking for a way to give back to the community in a full-time capacity. This position will serve full time and complete 1700 hours of service during the temporary 10-month service term. A typical service week is Monday – Friday, 8-5 pm. The anticipated start date is February 15, 2022 or as soon as possible! Essential Functions: - Obtain construction permits by submitting accurate permit applications. - Maintain the operating site’s sub-contractor database with proper documentation and identify new subcontractors. - Attend walkthroughs with Project Managers to understand and receive bids for work from subcontractors. - Properly organize, track and document all bids, work, and warranty information from subcontractors. - Schedule and coordinate subcontractors to complete work on clients’ homes. - Schedule inspections for the local building department and funders, as needed, for each construction project. - Order and process utilities and orders for sites; i.e. dumpsters, drywall, etc. - Ensure all electronic construction files, Gantt charts, excel tracking documents, and whiteboards are up to date with accurate i information. Requirements - Be at least 17 years of age or older. - Have a high school diploma or its equivalent. - Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
