Description
Survivor Wellness Weekend Retreat Information for Volunteers Thank you for applying to volunteer at the Survivor Wellness Weekend Retreat sponsored by The SOAP Project and The US Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking. We hope this 3 night weekend on Lake Michigan will be life changing, transformational, soul searching and full of new friendships for survivors of human trafficking. The Wellness Weekend will have offerings that address the 7 components of the Wellness Wheel: Social, Physical, Intellectual, Spiritual, Occupational, Emotional and Environmental Wellness. We ask that each survivor tries something from each spoke. We have a a trained medical team on site as well as a crisis team consisting of licensed professional nurses, counselors, social workers and spiritual directors. We will address healing the mind, body and soul of the survivor and take a firm stance on accepting survivors where ever they are in this journey. Here are some things to note: We ask that once you commit to teaching a session or volunteering, you do not cancel. We have limited sleeping space and set a scheule for the survivors. They will sign up in advance for your session so you will know how many to prepare for. As it gets closer, all volunteers will have to participate in a trauma informed training via zoom. This will get you better acquainted with situations that could occur and what to expect. Please let us know what day or evening works best for your session. We have limited space so if you are local or only scheduled for one session on a certain day, we ask that you come for that time only. If you would like to have several sessions or repeat it, please let us know. We anticipate 75 surviors so it is a big group. If you need your own room, there are several nearby hotels that are economical that are another option. The center only has several single rooms. But we will work with you to make this happen!!!If you are flying in, please let us know your schedule so we can get transportation for you to the center and then back to the airport. The center is 1/2 hour south from Milwaukee and an hour north of O'Hare Chicago airport. Agenda: April 21st, Thursday: Survivors Check in around 2pm. Activities, dinner and evening group session. April 22-23rd, Friday & Saturday:Breakfast optional, sessions, spa time, and free time, meals and ALL group time. Sunday: Breakfast, Closing Ceremony and head to airport/train station by noon.
