Dr. Lynn will describe CRT, offer an analysis of the highly politicized disinformation campaign against it, and draw on a wealth of resources -both in the higher education literature but also in the k-12 literature -to talk about how higher education faculty, particularly those who prepare education and human services professionals, might “seize the moment” and draw on the core principles of CRT to continue to transform the classroom in new ways. Policy implications will also be discussed. 6:00-7:00 speech7:00-7:30 Q&A7:30-8:30 reception with food and beveragesAbout the SpeakerDr. Lynn has conducted research on race, education, the work and lives of Black male educators, and best practices for advancing teacher diversity in the United States. His most recent work, the second edition of The Handbook of Critical Race Theory in Education was recently published on Routledge Press. For the last decade, Dr. Lynn has worked as a full-time academic administrator serving as dean or associate dean at public universities in the United States. Nationally, he has served as a member of the executive board for the Council of Academic Deans from Research Institutions or CADREI. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and was recently elected to serve as a member of their executive team. Dr. Lynn has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Carnegie Project for the Education Doctorate. He also co-founded and served as President of the Critical Race Studies in Education Association. He is a newly elected member of the Tigard-Tualatin School District Board of Directors.
