The new owner who bought the condo unit directly above the one I’m renting started rehabbing the start of May 2021. At first, she said it’d be 2 weeks to a month...
(AND, when I texted her in May about the noise and dust related to the work, her text back to me were, in a snooty manner: “if you don’t like it, you can move!” (She hadn’t even moved in yet, whereas I’d been here for 5 years. She also added she’d “get a restraining order” against me for complaining as harassment when he work started damaging my unit. Wasn’t worried about that.)
Which became now 9 MONTHS, not just during the week, but on many Saturdays, even sundays! On thanksgiving eve, Christmas Eve eve, till 730pm or later.
It’s a 2 bed 2 bath condo. Various workers told me she rehabbed EVERTHING. I checked, and she NEVER got permits for ANYTHING.
ALSO, bc of the work upstairs, it caused:
- ALL the electric to go out in my LR and half my RM’s bedroom.
- 2 gas leaks, causing my stove to be shut off may 18, 2021.
- Water leaks from her unit onto my furnace in August.
- Bits of ceiling to rain down at times like tonight when eating dinner
- 2-3 electrical outages, which caused food loss in my fridge.
- ALMOST EVERYDAY LOSING SLEEP and being woken up by loud noises the last 9 MONTHS.
Unfortunately, I can’t move due to financial limitations. And I’ve had to call the DOB, who sent overthe wrong inspector. And the condo pres doesn’t care or want to do anything about the new owner bc it’s not affecting HIS unit. Mine is the only one affected by her work, and bc I rent, I’ve been told I have no power and no say.
FYI, told my LL, and he hasn’t done anything about it.
She’s one of those obnoxious, Stacey Dash types whose white ex-husband pays for her phone and black BMW and her life revolves around the “insta” of her tastes in décor. BARF.
So I ask: 1) Would YOU live below her? And 2) What would you do to get her to stop, or make her move?
