Press release from HMC: Jan. 19, 2022 Hooters Management Corporation, founder and creator of the iconic Hooters brand has changed their name to HMC Hospitality Group. HMC Hospitality Group opened the first Hooters restaurant in 1983 in Clearwater, FL and currently owns and operates 22 Hooters Restaurants and 5 Hoots locations in Tampa Bay and Chicagoland. The name change reflects their growth as they add additional concepts including opening more Hoots locations, a quick service concept, as well as a new joint venture with 3 Daughters Brewing. HMC Hospitality Group is also planning to expand and add more Hooters locations in downtown Tampa, Riverview, Wesley Chapel, Chicago and Las Vegas. Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, HMC Hospitality Group has opened a Hooters location in Odessa, FL and three Hoots locations; two in Florida, Hoots Carrollwood in Tampa, FL and Hoots St. Pete and one in the South Loop of Chicago, IL. Hooters in the Tyrone Square Mall will be closing its doors at the end of the year due to changes in shopping habits and the decline in mall foot traffic. All employees at the Tyrone location will have the opportunity to transfer to any of HMC Hospitality Group's 11 local Hooters restaurants including the St. Pete location on 4th Street, Hoots Downtown St. Pete or Hoots Carrollwood. "We had a great run in the Tyrone area since the restaurant opened its doors in 1987 and appreciate the support from our customers for so many years," said HMC Hospitality Group Chief Executive Officer Neil Kiefer. "We are growing and looking forward to adding more locations to continue to serve our customers," added Kiefer.
