Description

CLEARWATER, FL — The city of Clearwater recently acquired land adjacent to Del Oro Park to construct an enhanced bicycle trailhead. Del Oro Park will be closed from Feb. 15 to Dec. 1 to construct a trailhead and make significant park improvements. To best use the land and provide enriching experiences for residents and visitors, the city will enhance the existing trail, add additional parking, construct restrooms, upgrade the playground area, preserve the oak trees and move the pickleball and tennis and basketball courts. Additional renovations include doing general maintenance of the park, repainting, adding new landscaping and mitigating existing flooding issues. The Ream Wilson Trail will remain open throughout the construction of the park. It will only close when necessary for trail construction and user safety. Users will be notified ahead of individual closures. "The neighborhood has been an integral part of this process and we're thankful for their input on the project,' said Parks & Recreation Director Jim Halios. "While the wait may be long, it will be worthwhile. Residents can expect to walk into a brand-new park in December." In the interim, residents can visit any of the nearby Clearwater parks such as Kapok Park, Bayview Park or Cooper's Bayou Park. For more information and updates, visit www.myclearwater.info/deloro.
