Description
PATCHOGUE, NY — Registration is now open for the "May the Road Rise to Meet Ye" 2-mile run/walk, a Patchogue St. Patrick's Day tradition.
This year's event will be held on Sunday, March 20 beginning at 11 a.m., rain or shine. The race starts on Main Street just west of the BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant, where packet pick-up and same-day registration take place.
But participants are better off signing up ahead of time — the pre-registration fee is $25, but the sign-up cost increases to $30 on race day. Also, the first 300 registrants will receive a free tech T-shirt.
Everyone 21+ who completes the course gets a free beer. Whoever takes first place will win a $100 gift card, as will the participant who dresses "the most Irish-looking."
Awards will also be given to the top law enforcement officer and the top 3 male and female finishers for each age group: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.
Chiropractic rehab office Champion Performance is offering services including stretching to the runners, and its staff will volunteer to monitor the race and its street closures.
Anyone with questions about the event is asked to contact Patchogue Parks and Recreation at (631) 475-4302.
