Description

PATCHOGUE, NY — The Patchogue Plunge is back — and this year, it will support a local cause. The event takes place on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 13), and it will begin with a breakfast and check-in at Toast Coffeehouse from 8-9:30 a.m. After the breakfast, participants will head to the Sandspit Marina for the plunge, and dive in at 10 a.m. This year's Patchogue Plunge is the village's second, and it's organized by the Patchogue Young Professionals organization. A 50/50 raffle will be held at the event, with winners announced at a defrost party at the Tap Room right after the plunge. All proceeds will support the Gabby Petito Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed at helping organizations that locate missing people and assist domestic violence victims. The foundation was created by the parents of Long Island native Gabby Petito, who was found dead after she went missing while on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend. "We wish to turn our personal tragedy into a positive one," Patchogue Plunge organizers wrote on Facebook. "It is our hope that Gabby's foundation will bring these important issues to the forefront of the public eye to the benefit of all our communities." Register online here.
