NORTHPORT, NY — Modesto, Sonya and Maria, who are 5-month-old siblings, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week. Brother Modesto has his hands full with his two beautiful sisters, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue. "He is sweet and loving," Wild wrote in an email. "He will sit back and watch his sisters be chatty and playful. Sometimes it almost seems as if he is laughing at them." Sonya has a similar personality, as she is affectionate, gentle, and silly, Wild said. "They may both start out a bit timid, but as they get to know you their personalities come shining through, and they become purring machines for pets," Wild said of Sonya and Modesto. "They get along beautifully with other cats, and have the sweetest faces you have ever seen." Maria, however, loves to be the center of attention. "She insists on being the first to get food, first to be pet, first to play with a toy, often nudging her way forward so she can get all of the attention!" Wild said. "She has earned the nickname of Me, Me Maria. She is very vocal and has the sweetest meow. If you say 'treat,' 'eat' or (her favorite) 'turkey,' she'll meow over and over again, circling by your feet and even standing up on her hind legs to share some. Best of all, Maria is a very affectionate kitten. Her favorite place to snuggle is on a lap. Like her siblings, she gets along great with other cats." The three siblings are in the cat rescue's habitats, currently. "When visitors come they put their little paws thru the window, begging for attention and longing for a home," Wild said. "You can see some concern in their eyes, every time they get passed by. We hope to get them adopted soon so that they do not spend their kitten-hood in a cage. We know they will brighten up any home they become a part of." They are all neutered or spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. If you are interested in meeting Modesto, Sonya, or Maria, you can head to the Northport Cat Rescue Association website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the other kittens and cats. You can also call NCRA at 631-606-2631 or email it at [email protected].
