Description

Help Grover and Grace learn how to prepare for a hurricane! The Pelican Program is a hands-on disaster education program created by BRACE VISTA Youth Engagement Coordinator Dominique. This program aims to teach kids aged 6-12 on how to best prepare for disasters through hands-on education. There will be four interactive stations at the event that teaches kids about food and water preparation, first aid and pet preparedness, creating a communication plan, and how to create a disaster kit. Kids will have the opportunity to learn how to use a NOAA radio, draw a shelter, and going through supplies that could be added to a disaster kit. Please come out and join us! If you have any questions, you can contact Dominique at [email protected]. Since the founding of BRACE in 2006 following Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis, BRACE has proven that partnership is the key to accomplish together what no individual or organization could alone. BRACE assisted thousands of survivors of hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes through the often difficult path to recovery by restoring hope and homes.  We have reached over 100,000 individuals with emergency preparedness, training, and education that will provide benefit to our community for at least a generation.      As a community-based disaster coalition of partners, our collective impact on the resilience of our community has been recognized more frequently by FEMA through the Individual & Community Preparedness Awards Program than any similar organization.
