Description
Eleanor is a 6yo Toy Fox Terrier. She is smaller than you think. She loves to play fetch, chew her bone (very particular about toys, will never chew your things), and loves to go on all the walks and run around. She gets very excited to go in the car, can sit on your lap in meetings or on zoom calls, and will sleep next to you if you like. She is so goofy, and loves to prance around with her little duck toy (her very favorite!) and toss it in the air. She will want to show it off to any guests, and grabs it if she feels unsure about a situation. It's an incredible feat, but she can and will fit a normal sized tennis ball in her mouth. This small pup is a source of endless entertainment and joy. She is looking for a calm home with no small children or other young dogs. She does beautifully as a lap dog and would spend all day with her person just being near them. She is beautifully trained and would be an excellent emotional support animal for someone who is less active, so long as they can lift her down from laps and couches. She comes with everything you could possibly need for her care (crate, beds, leashes, collars, toys, coats, food, bowls, etc), is completely up to date on shots, flea treatment, and has a solid veterinary record at a local vet. She is spayed. She is a trained former support animal for a combat veteran. Her job was to alert the patient's partner when the patient had nocturnal seizures, and wake them from nightmares. She also served as an emotional support animal and accompanied the family to doctors appointments and other stressful meetings. She is well traveled, adaptable in a variety of circumstances, and typically very quiet. Her former lifestyle included lots of hikes and traveling, kids, dogs, farm life, and adventures. Now, she gets left home alone more than is fair while everyone else goes out to play. She experienced a slipped disc last summer and while she has healed up nicely, her vet says she is prone to reinjury if she is permitted to jump down from furniture, run down stairs, or play rough with other dogs. Due to the positioning of the slippage, another injury could result in paralysis, so she is currently trained not to jump on furniture at all and lives a fairly restricted life style. Because of her advanced training, and potential for ongoing medical needs, it is important that she finds a home where her material needs can be met. Vet bills are expensive, and can occur without warning. You must be willing and able to provide yearly checkups, dental cleanings, and emergency care should the need arise. We are asking a rehoming fee to ensure this. I am happy to email back and forth to answer any questions- I will be extremely cautious about who I let her go to. I want her to have the best life possible. Please own your own home (or ground floor unit), and tell me about why you think she'd be a perfect fit in your life. I will show you all her commands and training methods to keep her polished and on task. She's a real gem.
