Stamford Officials Prepare For Mayor Simmons' Maternity Leave

STAMFORD, CT — The city of Stamford is currently preparing for Mayor Caroline Simmons to go on maternity leave. Simmons and her husband Art Linares are expected to welcome their third child sometime next week. She publicly announced her pregnancy last September. This week, a memo was sent by Simmons' Chief of Staff Bridget Fox to all city employees outlining details about how operations will run during Simmons' absence. Simmons plans to remain in close contact with her staff. Pursuant to Stamford's charter, Board of Representatives President Jeffrey Curtis will serve as acting mayor whenever Simmons provides notice that she unavailable, until such time as she resumes her duties. Simmons' office will issue a public communication when these notices are sent to Curtis. "Our team has and will continue to work closely with Stamford Board of Representatives President Jeff Curtis to coordinate and ensure there are no changes to city operations or services," said Simmons' Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs Lauren Meyer in an email. The memo to city employees did not mention how long Simmons is expected to be away.
