LINDENHURST, NY — Parents who want to enroll their children in Lindenhurst schools' all-day Pre-K program now have their chance. The Lindenhurst Union Free School District's Universal Pre-K lottery for the 2022-23 school year opens on Monday, Jan. 24, and it will remain open through Friday, Feb. 18. Any applications received after Feb. 18 will automatically be put on a waitlist. To be eligible, candidates must be Lindenhurst residents that turned 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022. Students are chosen via lottery; so the program is not first-come, first-served. Officials said seats are limited, and children will be placed on a waitlist once all seats are filled. The Universal Pre-K program runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It's free, though parents must provide transportation for their children. Families of lottery-winning students will be notified and required to complete the registration process at that time. Families of students on the waitlist will also be notified of their status.
