Danvers To Test New Chlorine Booster Station On Wednesday

DANVERS, MA — Danvers and Middleton residents may notice a change in water pressure and possible discoloration on Wednesday as the towns test the new Chlorine Booster Station at the Folly Hill storage tank. This is a required test ahead of the final Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection inspection of the new station. The shift in water distribution will occur between 6 a.m. and noon with the water supply maintained at the tank at the former Danvers State Hospital during these hours. "Due to the nature of this type of distribution system testing, Danvers and Middleton customers may experience some temporary inconveniences such as the loss of water pressure and slightly discolored water.," Danvers officials said. "The town of Danvers will make every effort to keep these inconveniences to a minimum." Residents who do experience disruptions are asked to call the Danvers Engineering Division at 978-777-2668. Officials said the State Hospital tank will have enough water to fill a whole day's supply. Danvers will need to re-test the system once again prior to activating and will notify residents of a day and time for that test. Those most likely to notice a difference on Wednesday will be residents near the Folly HIll Tank and Water Treatment Plant. If residents see discolored water, they are advised to run cold water through the faucet until it clears.
