GARDEN CITY, NY — A Suffolk County man was arrested on Jan. 14 for driving a stolen car, just a day after he was released without bail for a previous offense, police say.
According to police, officers saw a 2003 Acura RSX on Old Country Road in Garden City fail to signal when changing lanes at 3:30 p.m. The officers pulled the car over. During the investigation, it was determined that the car had been reported stolen in Suffolk County, police say.
Police arrested the driver — Nelson Priester, 35, of Middle Island — without incident.
According to police, Priester had previously been arrested on Jan. 13 and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. He was released the same day without bail and fitted with an ankle monitor.
For the second incident, Priester was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, third-degree unlicensed operation and failure to signal.
He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Jan. 15, and ordered held on bail of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond, which was not posted.
