BOSTON — A manager at Regina Pizza in the North End was punched in the face Sunday night when he asked an employee to put a mask on. Boston Police say the maskless customer tried to enter the Thatcher Street pizza shop just after 9 p.m. Sunday night but was stopped at the door for not wearing a mask. The man then pushed his way through, pinning the restaurant manager against the register before punching him in the face, police say. Regina Pizzeria confirmed to the Boston Herald that the assault took place because of the city-wide mask mandate, but didn't mention anything about the recent city-wide vaccine mandate. The maskless assailant is a white man who is thought to be in his mid-twenties. Police say he took off immediately after swinging the punch. The City of Boston has a mask mandate and COVID-19 vaccine mandate in play for all city restaurants, bars, gyms and other indoor spaces.
