PUYALLUP, WA — The Pierce County Sheriff's Department has released security footage of a "person of interest" who has been linked to a recent, deadly hit-and-run crash. According to deputies, on Saturday, Jan. 15, two 12-year-old girls had been walking along 104th Street near the intersection with 24th Avenue E in Midland, when they were hit by a white flatbed pickup truck. One of the girls was killed, and the other was critically injured. Instead of stopping to help, the pickup driver took off, and ultimately abandoned the vehicle nearby. (Pierce County Sheriff's Department) After investigating, deputies on Monday announced they had found security stills of a person of interest, who was seen leaving the stolen truck to visit the Shell gas station on Canyon Rd E the morning of the crash. They've released those stills, shown below, in the hopes someone may recognize the man. (Pierce County Sheriff's Department)Deputies ask that anyone who recognizes the man, or knows more about the crash, give Crime Stoppers a call at 1-800-222-TIPS.
