Press release from the Township of Toms River: January 18, 2022 SUEZ today announced that crews are approaching final phases of the installation of new water mains and individual services, which will improve service and ensure resilient systems for customers in the years ahead. The projects, which began in the fall, 2021, are especially important to downtown businesses and residential communities that rely on SUEZ to maintain sustainable water systems. "Despite the fluctuating winter weather conditions, our crews have continued to work on the infrastructure projects as quickly and safely as possible during the day and night," said Jim Mastrokalos, Director of Operations. "While we understand that some of the work, associated traffic detours and temporary repairs sometimes have been concerning to our customers, SUEZ is committed to not only completing the work but fulfilling its promise for our crews or authorized contractors to make final restorations," he added. Mastrokalos stated that following water main and service renewals, an area typically needs six weeks or longer to settle before final paving or vegetation restoration can be performed based on weather conditions. "Any areas disturbed specifically as a result of our project work, such as driveways, sidewalks, curbing, landscaping or plantings, will be replaced in-kind," Mastrokalos said. "Customers are reminded that they are responsible for maintenance following final restoration, which includes watering of seed, landscaping, and cutting lawns," he added. SUEZ is grateful to those affected customers and commuters for their patience and understanding during the last several weeks of the project activities.
