SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Police made two arrests at a warehouse in town, which police say had been repeatedly burglarized in the past month, starting on Dec. 19. One of the warehouse employees, who lives in Secaucus, was charged with the crimes, say police. Starting back in December, police say numerous burglaries and thefts have occurred at 2 Day Transportation, located at 901 Castle Road, with items being stolen from the warehouse on Dec. 19, Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 10. In total, more than $200,000 worth of electronics has been stolen from the warehouse in the past month. Police say an employee who worked at the warehouse, Trent Janulis, 47, who lives in Secaucus, let a Jersey City man inside during each burglary and together they stole the items. At 9:30 p.m. last Wednesday, Secaucus Police took Janulis and Michael Schmidt, 48, of Jersey City, into custody. They were each charged with four counts of burglary, four counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and three counts of theft. Janulis was also charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary, defiant trespassing and drug possession (suspected Suboxone/Viagra). Schmidt was also charged with drug possession of Suboxone. Both men were lodged at the Hudson County Jail. In a totally separate incident this past Saturday, Jan. 15, police say the commercial burglar alarm went off at 1:33 a.m. at another warehouse in town, White Toque, a kitchen supply and food importer on Enterprise Avenue. Police found two men at the scene, from Jersey City and Union City, and took them into custody because they were wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from nearby towns. However, they were not charged with any crimes related to the burglar alarm going off. Sign up for Patch emails: https://patch.com/subscribe and don't miss important local news.
