ARVADA, CO —Making beeswax lanterns, gardening, Tai Chi, duck-related artwork, papermaking. All are activities still available to the public this month at the Majestic View Nature Center in Arvada. Located at 7030 Garrison Street, the Majestic View Nature Center offers programs for all ages, hands-on displays, wildlife exhibits, a kids' activity area, classrooms and meeting spaces. Just outside the Nature Center, there is a 25,000-square-foot water-conserving demonstration garden where visitors can discover native and regionally appropriate plants and wildlife. Here are some of the programs still scheduled for January at the Majestic View Nature Center: Activity: Night with a Naturalist: Beeswax Lanterns (All Ages) What: Kids and adults alike will have fun making beeswax lanterns to light up the cold winter nights. When: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday Cost: All ages, $5 per person ($15 for 4+ people, call to register for a discount) Register/Questions: Register, or call 720-898-7405 Activity: Garden Work Day What: Do you love gardening, no matter the time of year? On this garden work day, volunteers and staff will work to keep Majestic View's demonstration garden healthy and looking great through the winter. Everyone is welcome and tools and gloves are provided. When: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday Cost: Free Register: No need to register Activity: Majestic Gardens Tai Chi (Recurring) What: Enjoy this small class in the great outdoors next to the Nature Center in beautiful Majestic View Park. This gentle, low-impact Tai Chi class is adapted from the Sun Form. Improve your balance in this fun and relaxed class. Wear comfortable clothes and register in advance. When: 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Mondays from Jan. 10 to Feb. 28 (Continuing: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Beginning: 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.) Cost: $80 for 8 weeks Register/Questions: Website, or call 720-898-7405 Activity: Duck Stamp Art Workshop (Ages 8-16) What: After learning about waterfowl habitat and conservation, students will create duck stamp artwork that they can submit to the national duck stamp competition.
