CONCORD, NH — Concord has been named one of the safest and most livable state capitals in the United States, according to a new study by WalletHub.com. As part of its 2022 study, the personal finance website analyzed all 50 state capitals while using 49 key metrics like the cost of living, education quality, housing affordability, employment, and other metrics. After looking at all the data, Concord placed 6th. Concord placed first when it comes to the unemployment rate and third when looking at median household income adjusted for cost of living. The city's poverty rate was ranked third, too. Most of the other metrics were in the middle — like housing affordability, at 19th, percent of state, local, and federal government employees and adults with a bachelor's degree or higher (24th). The average weekly work hours, too, was in the middle of the pack — 23rd.
