Description
Name: Wally Weight: 16 lbs Color: Brown Breed: Chihuahua/Beagle/Dachshund Mix Age: ~ 1 year old Personality: Wally is a medium-energy, super cute pup who loves long walks, food, and is a fast learner to boot. He is house trained (though you may want to go over the lay of the land in his new home), and knows his name, sit, stay, down, come, leave it, touch, and spin. He is still working on general manners, like jumping less, climbing less and no more eating food off the street, but he is a fast learner who LOVES food, so he should be able to pick that up quickly. He is a bit anxious and fearful of strangers, but has made leaps and bounds since coming to his temporary home. Outside, he may give some people a double-take, but quickly goes on his way. Inside enclosed spaces like elevators or narrow hallways, he may be fearful and bark on occasion, as well as when people try to greet him head on, but he is continually getting better at this. He loves dogs, although he could get a little better meeting them properly, and he is a bit reactive of squirrels, but again, big improvement there in the past month. I’d say he goes for less than half of the squirrels he sees now. Another thing he’ll need work on is separation anxiety, so a retired or WFH parent would be great, with a willingness to work on this issue with him. It is certainly able to be improved, as he has been fine with us in another room for hours at a time and has been steadily increasing his alone time. Exercise-wise, he’ll need 3 walks per day (he has a 7-8AM walk, a lunch time stroll, and an evening walk), totaling about 90 minutes. He also would love a potty break before the night is over (around 9 pm). He walks quite well on leash and can keep up for some extending jogs and runs when he’s feeling particularly fresh. We’re willing to give him to a good home (one member of our family is severely allergic to him), and will add his crate and basketful of food, toys, and gear. However, we’d like to meet you first and ask any questions we may have (and vice-versa) and hopefully meet our little furry friend before adoption. Please give our little guy a chance! We do not want him to end up in the shelter!
