(Photo by Ryan Phillips, Tuscaloosa Patch) The initial call of the shooting near 43 Valley Hills came in to the Northport Police Department at approximately 3 p.m. Monday. Kennedy then said one person — later identified as Martin — was found to have been shot multiple times, including in the chest, while sitting in his vehicle. Martin later died from his injuries Monday evening, shortly after being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center. His car was a central point of focus for investigators on Monday, as its passenger and rear windows were visibly damaged by what appeared to be gunfire. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate the fatal shooting and Kennedy said anyone who witnessed or has any information in regards to the shooting is asked to contact investigators immediately at (205) 464-8692.
