TRUSSVILLE, AL — One of the state's most-traveled roadways is getting wider soon, as the Alabama Department of Transportation plans to add a lane in each direction on I-59 near Trussville, according to the Birmingham Business Journal.
ALDOT said construction will begin within 30 to 45 days after ALDOT opens and accepts a bid on the project, which is expected to occur in late spring or early summer. The project includes widening the section of I-59 from Chalkville Mountain Road to I-459.
The project is expected to cost approximately $50 million.
