My daughter has had hamsters for years and is quite the expert. This is an excellent set up, along with a very friendly male hamster that is about a year old. Syrian or Teddy bear hamsters need a lot more space than most "hamster" cages provide. The ones you find in stores are inadequate, as hamsters need lots of floor space. You will receive a 40 gallon glass aquarium with metal mesh lid, as well as a very quiet wheel, and the other accessories you see. If you purchased all of this new, you would spend over $300.
