Join home cook, food columnist, and the Salt and Stone blogger Andrea McCoy for a class of fun, easy-to-make, winter dishes. Join Andrea McCoy of The Salt and Stone for a Winter Warm Up Cooking Class. This ‘everything but the roast chicken’ class is an opportunity to add some lovely, wintery dishes to your meal rotation; perfect alongside a roast chicken but tasty and filling enough to skip right past it if you prefer. We’re turning the volume up on flavor. We’ll start with an endlessly adaptable warm farro salad with savory butternut squash, spicy arugula and lots of sweet and savory bites for a flavorful winter salad. It wouldn’t be a Salt and Stone class without a pasta dish so this time we’re taking pappardelle pasta and combining it with creamy pumpkin a hint of spicy calabrian chilis. A handful of baby spinach and a bit of lemon brightens up this super simple and delicious recipe. Everyone needs a few tried and true veggie side dishes. Lemon garlic broccolini is your weeknight meal’s new best friend. Smashed rosemary parmesan baby red potatoes is the crowd pleasing recipe you’ll go back to again and again. And finally, a sweet treat to cap off the meal. Grapefruit olive oil cake is bright, light and perfectly sweet. Winter citrus begs to be turned into dessert and this grapefruit olive oil cake will not disappoint. While we will NOT be cooking a roast chicken in class, Andrea will walk you through a few tips and tricks to make a perfect one at home. This is a hands-on class and participants will get the opportunity to make one of the recipes in small groups, taste new dishes, and take recipes home to enjoy many more times. Five recipes total and a whole lot of fun perfect for filling #halfyourplate with delicious vegetables! Only 22 spots available. Menu: • Warm farro and butternut squash salad • Pappardelle pasta with a spicy pumpkin calabrian chili sauce • Lemon garlic broccolini • Smashed rosemary parmesan baby red potatoes • Grapefruit olive oil loaf cake Tickets are non-refundable but are transferable to another person or another date one week prior to the class date. This class is not dairy or gluten free. About Andrea: Andrea is a mother, wife, cook and writer.
