Been curious about how the Waukee Public Library's new parking lot stormwater management system works? Want to learn how to collect and utilize rain water at home? The City of Waukee Stormwater Department will teach you the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and the effects storm water has on the environment. Participants will learn how to prevent storm water runoff and how to collect and conserve water at home with rain barrels. Rain barrel selection, use, and maintenance will be discussed. You will also get a walkthrough of how the Library parking lot's bioretention cells, permeable pavers, and detention wet pond function to help reduce stormwater runoff and provide water quality treatment.
