Make your own stained glass flower brooch just in time for Mother's Day! 3-Hour Workshop Date: Saturday, May 7, 2022 Time: 10am-1pm Description: Have you ever been curious about putting florals in glass? Get crafty with us and play with flowers, on a small scale! Learn different techniques with pressed flowers and transform them into useful objects that preserve natural wonders forever. Students will learn how to cut sheet glass and how to foil the edges. Be inspired or bring your own pressed flowers if you desire! Create your own "cabinet of curiosity" that fits into a glass brooch on your coat, backpack, sweater, or an object for your desk! Makes a great gift or fun activity to do with friends and family. Everything sandwiched between 2 sheets of glass. You will make 2 pins in this workshop. Tuition: $55 + $35 materials fee Materials: All materials will be provided. Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201) COVID-19: In accordance with current CDC guidance - we are recommending all visitors wear a mask. Please note that the recommendation applies to teaching artists, resident artists, students and guests attending events taking place at CC. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Artist Sarah Cohen is an interdisciplinary artist but mainly works in glass to transform natural materials. Transplanted to Pittsburgh in 2015 after working for other artists after college, Sarah started her own studio practice full-time. Working with glass mosaics inspired by nature, Sarah also continues to focus on nature through her jewelry business, PetalVision Glass, started in 2016. Looking at materials with a critical eye, consumerism is the catalyst that drives most of her work.
