World Thinking Day- Observed by 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide, World Thinking Day has a different theme each year. In 2022, the theme is "Our World: Our Equal Future: The Environment and Gender Equality.” To earn your World Thinking Day Award, you’ll explore how girls and women are disproportionately affected by climate change and participate in the Girl Scout Tree Promise. Enter the world fair through our "Customs" booth. Learn the rules of the fair, get a photo in the photobooth , don't forget to pick up your passport! Come in and set up your table/booth. Each troop will have a location. Bring a food or treat from that country, make a poster board about it, have a craft or swap related to the country and or theme. Once youre set up Take turns with the girls in your troop running your booth and traveling around the world fair- collecting stamps in your passport as you visit each booth or table. Learn/teach about climate change and equality with events to showcase the challenges women are facing worldwide. Maybe in your country women still have to carry water long distances and you have an event to see who can carry a pail the furthest, maybe erosion is an issue and you have girls try to build an erosion proof felt farm, Pollution and watershed using paper and markers to show the spread of water and pollution run off, coloring, page, a swap with something significant to your country to make and take, maybe food is carried in baskets and your stack up foam pieces and walk a course- share your creativity with us! Decorate your table as you see fit- flags backdrops( hand made or purchased), colors, flora& Fauna are all great ideas. After the world fair participate and cheer on your fellow sister scouts in a talent show featuring the world countries. For example if you have china you could make a shadow puppet show, if you have France a mime show- Maybe you just make up a parody song with fact about your country. Each troop will have a five minutes to use as the see fit. LEADERS****** please reach out to me with your top 3 country choices- they will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. If you have a large troop please consider doing more than one country and let me know. You may want to divide into older and younger girls for this event or by level of scout. Just let me know how many booths youll need and your top 3 choices for each group. ************ FOOD RULES and Ideas- Wash hands before handling any food- preferably with gloves. Must have small sample for each girl in a small disposable dish- dixie cup or sample cup (dollar tree is a great place) Make or Purchase something culturally appropriate. Mexico- Mini churros, taco bites etc. Italy- Pasta, cheese etc.. etc.. MUST INCLUDE RECIPE with all ingredient on poster. Must be kept at the correct temperature so please pack ice- heat- cooler etc as needed.
