Global Church Persecution Awareness and Prayer
Thank you for your interest in the Global Church Persecution Awareness (GCPA) ministry at the Rock. One of our deacons, Christian Sebastian, is excited about what God is doing at the Rock in this area and will be leading prayer and awareness nights concerning the persecuted church. We all agree that it is time for like-minded people to come together and raise our voices in support for those undergoing persecution for the sake of the Gospel.
Our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, 1/31/2022 at 6:30pm in the Intercessory Prayer Room next to the Commons.
Below is a note from Chris Sebastian:
“For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit…” (Col. 2:5)
When Paul wrote the Colossians letter to the church in Colossae, it was during his first imprisonment in Rome. The church was being influenced by some heretical teachings. Though Paul himself was in chains, he continued to encourage believers that were living in their freedoms. He had a heart to visit Colossae but, was never able to due to imprisonment. Yet that did not stop him from fellowshipping with believers in spirit. He was praying for what they were praying for. He was believing what they were believing for. The application here is that while we may be experiencing some type of hardship or forms of persecution in our own lives, we can continue to encourage and pray over people that we may never physically see or know. We can be one with them and have our presence felt in the spiritual realm which then becomes tangible in the physical day to day life that is lived. We may not know the outcome of our prayers until we are in the presence of our Lord Jesus, but we can be sure that they are having an effect in the here and now regardless of geography.
