ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job duties includes the following: 1. Accurately write and submit inspection reports daily. 2. Assist with inspection of Heavy Civil construction. 3. Perform a variety of job site tests, record test data, and interpret test results. 4. Sample and test Hot Mix Asphalt, Cement Concrete, and other surfacing materials. 5. Sample and perform aggregate tests such as sieve analysis, sand equivalent, and moisture content. 6. Use nuclear gauge to test densities of asphalt concrete, surfacing and earthwork. 7. Write and receive tickets for measurements of materials. 8. Strictly follow OSG's safety program. 9. Communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a cooperative and courteous manner with the public, contractors, supervisors, and other department staff. Minimum Qualifications: • Knowledge of construction documentation standards PREFERRED SKILLS An ideal candidate for this position will have: • At least a year of experience of increasing responsibilities in delivering transportation design and/or construction projects including design-build projects. • Knowledge of materials testing, construction practices, and contract administration. • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods, with the ability to apply them. • Experience in reading, drawing, and interpreting detailed engineering plans. • The ability to perform and check engineering calculations. • The ability to lift and carry 75 lbs. and work in an outdoor environment to include navigating uneven terrain. • The ability to obtain and maintain certifications for construction materials testing. • Flexibility to adjust work schedule to coincide with contractor activities including the ability to travel as needed, work nights, weekends, holidays, and perform emergency callout/standby. • A valid driver's license • ACI • WAQTC What we offer: • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. • 100% coverage for medical/dental/vision benefits for employees and 50% for dependents. 401k with an employer match. • Life Insurance with short- and long-term disability available. • Company vehicle. • Continuing education and certification coverage. • Cell phone and gear reimbursement.
